Food should be a source of nutrition, especially when the stomach is hungry. Often it is precisely all the things associated with food, including when you are not hungry and under stress.

This condition is often referred to as food craving, namely the desire to eat certain foods. In contrast to the hunger in general, food craving is a strong desire to eat which is not related to the body's needs.

Food craving can be motivated certain eating habits, such as eating habits early in life. A diet like this then can lead to dependence alias food addiction. Primarily on the type of food is addictive like sugar, artificial sugar, salt, fat, flour and caffeine.

According to Dr. Grace Judio-Kahl, MSc, there are some characteristic of addiction, one of which is that the person can not live without the food and its specific activity. Other characteristics, there are malfunctions. For example, the food should be done when they are hungry, the people of addiction these activities can be done anytime.

"Eating is the function of what? For nutritional needs, in order to stay alive. Eat it cure hunger," said Dr. Grace in the event Unilever Sustainable Living Plan: 'Outsmart Food Craving and Carboydrate Addiction: Note Intake Sugar, Salt and Fat Excess' in Crematology, South Jakarta, Tuesday (18/10/2016).

He added that the stress of the food should not be used as the main solution. If someone used to make the food as a solution in times of stress, he could be experiencing food craving or food addiction.

"If stress, find the appropriate solution. If anyone has anything happened in his life and the medicine was just eating, it's called addiction because there are malfunctions of food," said Dr. Grace.

If the consumption of sugar, salt and flour are high discontinued or not met, those with food addiction may experience symptoms such as headache, difficulty focusing, mood swings and a strong desire to consume these foods.
